11 year-old boy invited to the White House thanks to his bravery

11 year-old Logan Fairbanks from Hartford, Michigan, received a special invitation, after publishing a touching video on his YouTube channel.

In the two-minute video, Logan shares with his audience some very offensive comments he received from YouTube users. After reading the horrible messages, he exhorts cyberbullies to stop offending people online. He also sends a message to people who have been bullied, to not let those words affect them.

His message quickly spread, so much that Valerie Jarret, senior adviser to President Barack Obama, tweeted about what he’d done, and praised his courage and willingness to speak up.

About half an hour later, she tweeted again, this time inviting Logan to “stop by [the White House] and say hi”, whenever he happens to be in DC. She also mentioned that Logan “may be a future occupant one day”, smiley face included.

Logan and his father are taking the invitation seriously, as they’re planning to go to Washington D.C. on July 20th, thanks to many donations they’ve received towards this goal.

To top off this one-of-a-kind way to make the point clear to his bullies, Logan and his supportive father have plans to start an anti-bullying foundation called “Take the Power”.

It is worrisome to see cyberbullies taking advantage of the Internet to attack other people with such cruelty behind a curtain of anonymity. However, it’s encouraging to a greater extent to know there are brave people, who are not afraid to make a change in the world, not just for them, but for others as well. It even makes you want to be part of that change, and that’s something not everybody can do.
