If you ask anyone about any situation in particular, you will find out that they have an excuse for everything.
“I don’t save or invest any money because I have huge expenses. The Internet is only for tech guys.”
These type of statements are very common, and this is maybe a way to say “I know nothing about anything” but in a non-constructive way. Socrates said it in different words “I know that I know nothing” and this is accepting our ignorance towards the universe itself, a humble way to present an open mind to new ideas.
Let me go to a practical example: 3D printing. This is the future of humanity, the “democracy” of the materialistic societies, the spark of a new world, the doorway of human design and creation, the fire of the gods that Prometheus stole and gave back to mankind. 3D printing will be the next revolution that will have an extreme impact in society as we know it.
However, not many people see it yet…
Let’s be honest, the society we live in, doesn´t like change. Why? Simply because it takes time to establish an idea, and those who establish it don´t want to pass the ball. Now, you might be asking yourself: “I am an ordinary person, how can 3D printing change my life?” and I´ll answer; replace the word “3D printing” for the word “Internet” and you will have an idea of the possible answers.
I recently found out about a father that designed a hand prosthesis for his son, who was born lacking his right hand. Something that would have cost thousands of dollars, came right out of a printer inside their home for less than the price of a family dinner.
I have seen musical instruments printed, parts for machines, toys, tools, houses and even cars, all of them coming from a machine, almost as if they were materializing from thin air.
This technology will revolutionize the world economically, just like Facebook produces no content, like UBER owns no cars, and like Ali Baba stores no merchandize.
The most important thing that 3D printing will revolutionize is the practical way of living. Internet opened access to information, 3D printing will open access to… Things.
