“The world needs more love.”
These are the words of David Guetta, French musician and disc jockey as he announces his fund raising project to help typhoon victims in the Philippines. The French house music producer is releasing his new single “One Voice.” He is donating the money to be generated from the new music video to the United Nations relief works and other humanitarian programs.
Power of music
David Guetta believes that music has power that enables it to bring and connect people in a common state. It is in this light that he is working with the UN and other international assistance groups in the release of his latest music production. The music video launched very recently in New York is made especially for his new piece titled “One Voice.” The proceeds from the music video is intended to support UN’s “The World Needs More ___” crusade. The campaign encourages sponsors and manufacturers of brand products to give support to humanity by filling in the blank with one word. Guetta is sponsoring the word “love” through his new musical score.
Wanting to help
David Guetta shares the grief of the Philippines over the massive destruction and deaths that super typhoon Haiyan wrecked on the central part of the country. According to the musician, he sees the wreckage left by the typhoon to be horrifying just like how everyone else in the world regards the unfortunate event. The recent death toll count has now reached 5,000 while many more individuals are still missing. Guetta’s reaction is that of shock followed by an urge to help the victims in their plight and assist them to rise again and rebuild their lives.
“I wanted to help, but I didn’t know how, so I went to the people that do.” Guetta said.
By partnering with the UN for the program “The World Needs More__”, the performer hopes to help victims of Haiyan and other natural disasters and war. Guetta’s fame significantly rose when he earned 891 million hits from his YouTube videos and almost 1.5 billion following from his Vevo music productions. He hopes his fans will help him raise the millions of dollars needed to give relief to the victims in the Philippines.
Unforgettable experience
The French house musician stated that the experience of working with the UN is unforgettable and humbling on his part. He has also derived more inspiration from the campaign in reaching out to his fans for support. “One Voice” was released in a premier night at the UN Secretariat Building in New York with live streaming on David Guetta’s Facebook fan page and the campaign website where the video is given an exclusive feature bit. Ban Ki-moon, UN Secretary-General and David Guetta graced the premier night of “One Voice.” Mr. Ban extended his gratitude to Mr. Guetta for his initiative to bring change and help build better tomorrow for everyone.
