Facebook recently made a huge improvement in the level of comfort and convenience of its users. The immensely popular social networking site is now offering an album sharing feature where photos can be uploaded in a single spot by a number of different users. This may be a simple feature but it is absolutely helpful in photo sharing.
Sharing made easy
Opening one’s Facebook account at least once a day is becoming more than just a habit to its more than a billion users worldwide. The social networking site offers not only the means to communicate with other people. It is also a venue where people express and vent anything they want to say. Another activity that a user commonly does in Facebook is to post and share photos they have taken of themselves, friends and family members and various gatherings and celebrations.
Consolidating and sharing photos is now easier since Facebook has rolled-out its new album sharing feature. A group of people can upload photos and put it on a single album where everyone in the group has access. The most basic use of such feature is that it makes photos from an event or single subject readily available.
“Make shared album”
The new sharing album feature can be accessed when creating a new photo album using a new button with the option name “Make Shared Album.” According to Mashable, this is currently available only to English-speaking users. There have been no announcements yet on the exact date when it would be available to the rest.
The new “Make Shared Album” feature only allows a total of 50 users who can contribute to the album. Each user is allowed to upload 200 photos, and that adds up to 10,000 pictures for each album sharing collaboration. Every person who contributed photos in the album can edit, tag and post captions to the images uploaded.
Privacy options
Privacy options are also present in this new sharing feature. The creator of the album can select and decide who and what can be seen in the album by adjusting the privacy settings. The options include sharing to public, friends of contributors, and of contributors. Should any user want to share the album in the entire Facebook community or perhaps a specific group, the user would be unable to do so since only individual contributors can be added. The album may also not be shared based on a specific gathering or event.
Easier sharing
The social networking company stated that the new feature was designed for users to have an easier manner of sharing and posting their photos. Facebook also commented that the new feature is sure to be a hit. At this point, the 50 person limit has to stand since larger groups would be too tricky to accommodate.
The competition
This new Facebook feature already exists in other programs and photo-sharing sites. Album sharing was already used by Albumatic, Hipstamatic and Keepsy to make it easier for users but their versions require users to sign-up with or download applications. Facebook offers the feature without the extra hassle. It may not be a Facebook original, but it is good of them to add the feature.
