Google I/O 2013 Event – Expect the Unexpected

Google conducts a yearly event called Google I/O wherein products and updates are shown and discussed amongst the attendees. In this Google I/O 2013 event, it is rumored that Google is going to focus more on the developers. And for many this is a wise choice considering the impact Google made last year when it gave consumers lots of things to look forward to.

However, this does not entirely mean that Google will be announcing all-new products. Reports indicate that Nexus 5 is already peeking at the window while ChromeBook is itching to get some added attention. Software advancements can also be expected as Android OS is said to have some slight or even major updates which users will surely love.

Chrome is in the spotlight

The annual event that Google throws always typically has tons of surprises. To some developers, this even offers a great chance to get the first glimpse of what Google is about to unleash in the tech community. Gigaom, one of the most reliable sources when it comes to technological updates stated that this year’s Google I/O will focus more on Chrome rather that Android. However, it is still certain that certain updates will still be given for Android.

Looking through the Glass

Last year’s event took a huge turn when Google Glass was announced. This is the reason why Day 2 of this year’s event is dedicated to sessions regarding Glass development. The bar was set even higher than last year and the only thing to make things more interesting is to maintain that level by developing new features and applications for Glass. This year, we’ll see what they have been up to.

Uncertain update for Android

It is expected that Android will release an update at Google I/O 2013. The only problem is that nobody is certain how huge the update is. Everyone is expecting that Android 5.0 a.k.a Key Lime Pie will be launched in the event. If the rumors are true, this will surely be a huge update in Android history. But, for those who’d rather not get their hopes dashed are re only expecting to get another updated version of the Jelly Bean.

Nexus rises

Nexus 7 became one of the best things that Google I/O had brought into the scene. According to reports, there will be some upgrades and updates with the Nexus 7 making it more powerful than it was before. Now, it is said to be mounted by a Qualcomm processor making it faster and more reliable. The camera will also be updated for better pictures and videos. However, many are looking forward for a Nexus 8 but revamping the 7 is not a bad idea even if there’s no forthcoming Nexus 8 yet.

Applications for Chrome OS

Chrome OS did not actually deliver as expected. There had been some slight difficulties concerning applications that can be run on it. The problem was that it lacked the capability to run a sufficient number of applications especially those that do not need an Internet connection. According to reliable sources, Google will be making a whole new range of applications especially offline ones to further improve the OS platform garnering more users.
