Iran Says it is Ready to Resume Talks with World Powers

Iran has received global attention with regard to its activities that concerns enhancing uranium. According to most critics what Iran is doing is approaching the creation of weapons grade nuclear armaments. Now at last, Iran has opened its doors to discuss what their nuclear program is all about. However, no concrete outcome was reached during the two-day talks held in Almaty, Kazakhstan last April 6. It was a failure, and Iran awaits the European Union to schedule the next round of negotiations.

According to Ali Bagheri, Iran’s deputy nuclear negotiator, they are willing to engage in another round of negotiations with the world powers that are disputing their nuclear aspirations. They are open to discussions in order to end to conflict and dispel rumors of their malicious intent.

A decade of nuclear dispute

Iran has been taking the heat from the rest of the world for over a decade due to nuclear experimentation that comprises what is called the Tehran Nuclear Program. The countries in the Middle East have openly acted and spoken in order to suppress any nuclear activities by Iran since it would only take a few mishaps toward another war in the region.

Israel has been closely monitoring the said nuclear program as well and seeks a final date where positive results are evident. Israel is also keen on the implementation of the provisions of a future agreement that Iran is willing to abide.

Iran states its purpose

In one of his interviews Bagheri stated that the purpose of Iran in harnessing uranium grade materials is to power their research on the Tehran reactor. He said that four more are being built for a similar purpose. The Iranians see no wrongdoing in their activities, and they insist that they pose no threat to the world. Iran does not intend to create nuclear weapons of mass destruction. But this claim is being disputed not only by its neighboring countries but also by six of the most powerful countries in the world.

Bagheri also contended that there are no cover-ups whatsoever on their nuclear program. The production of the 20% uranium which is being converted into 20% oxide has been accurately matched and demonstrated to be adequate only to power the Tehran research reactor.

Open for negotiations or not?

The outcome of the first nuclear convention discussing how Iran should limit, if not totally eliminate, their nuclear capability did not go pretty well. According to reliable sources, the first attempt to reach controlled negotiations in the Almaty talks were nowhere near the desired outcome. It has been stated by the Iranian negotiator that the terms that are offered to them clearly outweigh the action they are to abide.

The IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency has also been tasked to closely monitor the nuclear program that Iran is implementing. This however is beyond the purview of the agency which is mainly to ascertain that the program is actually producing fuel for their reactors. Iran and the IAEA are carrying out their own separate discussions on the matter, but this also affects the country’s negotiations with the word powers.
