After nine years of professional basketball LeBron James has finally managed to silence the critics. The Miami Heat forward won the NBA championship and the Olympic medal this year. He may not be the first athlete to have a claim to such double prestige, but he is the reigning NBA Most Valuable Player. All those antics on the court earned him the Sportsman of the Year Award from Sports Illustrated, and another personalized pair of Christmas sneakers from Nike.
James was born on December 30, 1980. He stands tall at 6’8” and is at the peak of his career as an athlete. The month of December is not yet over but so far, he is on the road to joining three NBA legends – Larry Bird, Wilt Chamberlain, and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, who hold the record for the highest numbers garnered in a month. Is he the best player who ever played the game? That remains to be seen, but he is definitely one of the most consistent players in the league’s history.
