Miami Heat won Game 6 of the NBA Finals, pushing the San Antonio Spurs to Game 7. Game 6 did not start well for Miami Heat. It was only in the fourth quarter where Heat superstar LeBron James and the rest of the team pushed the game to overtime and eventually took the win by brute force.
Hoping the finals would come to an end in Game 6 the San Antonio Spurs took the lead in the first three quarters with Duncan as their main man. Duncan managed to score 25 points in the first half giving the Spurs a wide lead. However, things started to turn around when consecutive mistakes and missed opportunities followed the San Antonio team.
Every second counts
Playing in the NBA finals may already be considered a walk in the park when it comes to these seasoned professional players however, nothing it set in stone. Even for the most competitive and experienced player, mistakes do happen, especially in the most important seconds of the game.
The final 30 seconds of the fourth quarter proved to be the crucial game-changer that determined the outcome of Game 6. With less than 20 seconds on the clock, James and Allen were able to get three pointers tying the game to 95. Ray Allen was the man of the hour when he hit the three-pointer that pushed the game to overtime.
Final score: 103-100
Feeling the pressure, the Spurs faced tough job guarding James in the last few seconds. LeBron gave Miami a one-point lead with more than a minute to spare in the OT. With only 1.9 seconds left in the clock, Ray Allen was fouled allowing him two free throws. Allen’s sure hoops gave Miami a three-point lead that ended the game at 103-100. According to Allen, there is always an opportunity to win until time runs out.
The legendary headband
In every game James has played he wore his signature headband. It might be just his habit but the practical use of a headband is to keep the sweat off from his eyes. In Game 6, his headband went off, and that somehow changed the way he played.
After three quarters in the game, LeBron’s game suddenly and radically changed nine minutes before the end of the fourth quarter. Fans made quite a commotion about LeBron’s performance in the fourth quarter. They were ultimately impressed and amazed at how James pushed forward to lead Miami Heat to victory. James scored 32 points with 10 rebounds and 11 assists.
Team effort
Coach Erik Spoelstra may have used the right line up at the right time. Miami’s first five did not carry its powerhouse players. Before the gap started to widen, the five superstars of the team went off the bench and started to bring down the whole stadium. Finishing off Game 6 in Miami’s line-up was LeBron James, Ray Allen, Chris Bosh, Mike Miller and Dwayne Wade. Even though Miami started slow, they took home the win. Now it’s onward to Game 7 on June 21, Friday at the AmericanAirlines Arena, Miami, Florida.
