In connection with Apple’s App Store celebrating its 5th year anniversary in the business, a number of paid and expensive apps are offered free for download on Monday. It has been five years since Apple’s online store started catering to iOS users. The unprecedented move to make a number of paid apps free signifies the company’s appreciation for the continued patronage and support of consumers. Downloading top rated free apps from the App store is now possible but for the full versions of some applications payment is still required.

Top games for free

“Infinity Blade II” is the sequel of “Infinity Blade.” Up to this point in time, the game is considered to have one of the most awesome graphics and game play for the iPhone and iPad. The game is set on a medieval castle that lets the player battle all sorts of monsters and knights. Once priced at $7 this game is now free for download.

Many are not impressed with the simple graphical user interface of the “Superbrothers: Sword and Sorcery” EP game but this game is worth more than just a few bucks. This game is still considered to be among the best of the many available independent games accessible on different platforms.

The Winner of Apple’s design award in 2013, “Badland” is also one of the games offered free for download in the App Store. This multi-awarded game has a very unique game play that will get players hooked. The full version of “Where is My Water?” is also now free with more than 600 levels of fun and entertainment. Chosen as the iPhone game of the year in 2011, “Tiny Wings” is free as well. Simple and enjoyable, this game is all about fulfilling the dream to fly.

Top applications for free

“Traktor DJ” is one of the biggest steals of the App Store anniversary give-away. Priced at $19.99, this wonderful application popularly used for remixing various musical tracks can now be availed of free of charge. The app allows anyone to have full access to his or her entire iTunes library. It has the capability to mix sounds in almost every way possible.

For photo editing lovers, the App Store is now offering “Over” for $0. This application has tons of filters suited to the user’s every need. It has editing features, as well as text and photo overlays to make unique and personalized images. Other top paid apps offered are “Barefoot World Atlas,” “Day One” and “How to Cook Everything,” which are finally free for download.

App Wars

Every tech company has its own website where applications can be downloaded. There is Apple’s App Store, Google’s Google Play, Blackberry’s Blackberry World and Microsoft with its Windows Phone. In 2011, Apple and Amazon had a dispute when Amazon rolled out its own version of online application store called Amazon App Store. Apple filed a complaint and sued Amazon for infringement of its trademark by using the words “apps store.” Amazon contended that such words were only generic descriptions and therefore no infringement had occurred. Both Apple and Amazon failed to come to a settlement.
