Flappy Bird creator Dong Nguyen made good on his promise via his latest Tweet. He took down the game he created for only three days off the Google Play and Apple Apps Stores on Sunday. Game over! Despite earning $50,000 a day on ad revenues from the game which can be downloaded for free, he said that he cannot anymore take the attention and flak he has been getting from the game.

For those addicted to the simple-looking yet difficult game, you can still play with it as long as you do not delete it from your mobile device.

Wise move

Mr. Duy Doan, a VTC Online senior manager said that it was a wise move on Dong Nguyen’s part. VTC Online is one of the leading game companies in Vietnam. He (Dong) avoided the difficulties he might eventually face when presented with legal issues. There had already been talk about the game’s similarity with Nintendo’s Super Mario game.

Life ruined

Dong Nguyen initially said that he was happy that his game became popular but it has now ruined his life and he claimed that he can no longer take it anymore. His simple life has been turned upside down by the latest developments that Flappy Bird brought him.

He said he is not selling the game nor is he looking for investors. Investment manager Nguyen Hieu Lihn of Japanese CyberAgent Ventures said that investors would not be interested in it simply because it was just a hit-based game, therefore the projected cash flow would be uncertain and might not be recurring.
