The total revamp of Yahoo’s e-mail service has been put into motion since December 2012. And now, a new version is at hand. This initiative has been under the strict supervision of Yahoo’s CEO Marissa Mayer. According to Mayer, the discontinued use of Yahoo Classic and the total overhaul of their e-mail service have come up due to avid requests from Yahoo Mail users.
Upgrade is mandatory for continued use
Yahoo is not giving any other option to users who want to continue using its Mail Classic service. The upgrade is somewhat mandatory in order for users to maintain their accounts. There are only two possible options, either upgrade or leave Yahoo Mail forever.
The upgrade targeted certain aspects of the e-mail service for users to have a better experience with its features. The new Yahoo Mail was made to be compatible with the hottest mobile phones, latest versions of browsers and newly launched operating systems. According to Mayer, the new Yahoo Mail is more user friendly and is also optimized to avoid spam mails that can harm a user’s computer system.
Privacy issue is a concern
With the Mail Classic becoming obsolete, the new Yahoo Mail offers a new feature that has gotten people’s attention. Users are actually having second thoughts about the new communications terms of service and privacy policy that Yahoo is implementing together with the upgrade.
According to the new privacy policy, a user must accept the automated content scanning and system analysis of all the contents the user has stored in his or her email. This new policy is non-negotiable. The items that a user can opt to restrict are only the advertisements. This feature can be accessed through the settings menu of the e-mail service.
Being competitive to survive
Yahoo Mail has no other option but to upgrade its system in order to fully compete with Google’s Gmail. The launching of the new Yahoo Mail can be viewed as a means of getting Yahoo back on track. According to users, the technology used by Yahoo in its automated content scanning already exists. Gmail has a feature that does the same thing.
Since Yahoo will only start to incorporate its privacy policy, it is very important for them to properly maintain the contents of every user’s personal data in their centers. Yahoo has yet to prove that it is capable of ascertaining account security.
Made to run on anything
Software upgrades and program revamps can sometimes cause bug issues or some other concerns that might hinder a user to properly utilize the program. It takes a lot of effort and determination to make the components function in a flexible manner.
Yahoo has assured the public that their upgrade can be used on practically any device that uses the Internet. The developers prioritized the flexibility of the new email system and made sure it is compatible with almost any device. iPhone users can download the application as well as those using Android since it is already made to incorporate the new upgrade. Running the new version with Windows 8 or any Mac OS should also post no problem.
